Lunch and Learn

“Media Depictions of Poverty in America” will be the topic of a Lunch & Learn program hosted by the Dalton State Foundation Thursday, April 11. The program will be presented by Matt Hipps, Assistant Professor of Political Science at Dalton State.

Extending the work of previous scholars in the field, Hipps will examine media bias and its influence on public perceptions of the working poor and less fortunate, exploring what’s true and what’s exaggerated in our news and other information sources.

Hipps earned his master’s degree in public administration from West Virginia University and his bachelor’s degree in political science from West Virginia Wesleyan College.
Reservations and payment are required in advance and may be made online at www.alumni.daltonstate.edu/events. Cost is $10 and includes lunch.

The program begins at 12 noon in room 105 of The James E. Brown Center at the north end of the Dalton State campus. Those with questions are invited to contact the Dalton State Foundation by calling 706-272-4473.
