Three
prominent historians will discuss the final years of the Confederacy in
a series of free lectures at the 2015 Civil War in the Western Theater
Colloquium scheduled Saturday Feb. 7 at the Northwest Georgia Trade
& Convenion Center.
Dr.
Keith Bohannon will speak on “Guerilla Warfare the Collapse of the
Confederacy, and the Impact of the Civil War on North Georiga.” Dr.
Bohannon is an Associate Professor of History at the University of West
Georgia and co-author of A Georgian with ‘Old Stonewall’ in Virginia: The Letters of Ujanirtus Allen.
Dan
Cone will present “Limping to the End: A Georgia Regiment in the Army
of Tennessee, 1865,” a lecture on the last regiment raised int eh state
of Georgia during the Civil War. Mr. Cone is a historian with the
Georgia Civil War Heritage Trails Inc. and former Museum Educator with
the Atlanta History Museum. He is the author of Last to Join the Fight: The 66th Georgia Infantry.
Robert
Glaze, the final speaker, will present “Experiencing Defeat,
Remembering Victory: The Army of Tennessee in Confederate Memory.” Mr.
Glaze is pursuing a doctorate at the Unviersity of Tennessee where he
teaches World History.
The
lectures are free and open to the public and are offered in conjunction
with the Chickamauga Civil War Show. The Colloquium begins at 9:30 a.m.
and continues until 1:55 p.m. with a lunch break from 11:30 to 1.
