"A Century of Shudders"

Dr. Jonathan Lampley, Assistant Professor of English, will present "A Century of Shudders: Horror in the Cinema" at a Dalton State Coffee & Conversation on October 29.

The Coffee and Conversation program, hosted by the Dalton State Foundation, will take place in The James E. Brown Center at the north end of the Dalton State campus beginning at 7 pm.

Dr. Lampley, who teaches film and English courses, will outline the history of horror films. “I will start by discussing early adaptations of Dracula and Frankenstein,” he said, “and move up through the classic era of horror cinema, mentioning such great performers as Bela Lugosi, Boris Karloff, Vincent Price, Christopher Lee, and Peter Cushing.” He will then briefly address the state of horror cinema today and offer his thoughts on where the genre may go next.

Reservations and advance payment are required by October 25, and may be made online at www.alumni.daltonstate.edu/events. Cost is $10 and includes refreshments. Those with questions are invited to contact the Dalton State Foundation by calling 706-272-4473.
The program is intended for those 12 and older.
