"Battle of Chickamauga"

Just two weeks before the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Chickamauga, Dalton State President Emeritus Jim Burran will deliver a Dalton State Coffee & Conversation program titled “Who Really Won the Battle of Chickamauga?”

The Dalton State Coffee & Conversation will take place on Thursday, September 5, at 7:00 p.m. in the garden area on the grounds of the Gordon-Lee Mansion in downtown Chickamauga, less than five miles from the Chickamauga battlefield.

The Battle of Chickamauga was fought on September 19 and 20, 1863, and marked the end of a Union offensive in southeastern Tennessee and northwestern Georgia. Only the Battle of Gettysburg had more casualties during the Civil War. Dr. Burran will discuss the battle and its significance 150 years later.

Reservations and advance payment are required by September 3, and may be made online at www.alumni.daltonstate.edu/events. Cost is $10 and includes refreshments. Those with questions are invited to contact the Dalton State Foundation by calling 706-272-4473.
