Student Scholarship Showcase

The work of more than 100 students will be shared in a Student Scholarship Showcase this week on campus at Dalton State College. Students from the Schools of Business, Education, Liberal Arts, Health Professions, and Science, Technology, and Mathematics will display their work in oral, poster, and digital presentations.

The College’s Student Scholarship Showcase is designed to “promote the academic excellence and scholarship of our students,” said Dr. Sandra Stone, Vice President for Academic Affairs.  “We encourage student scholarship by fostering critical thinking, writing, and oral communication skills; encouraging scientific and humanistic investigation and research; fostering academic creativity and original ideas within disciplines; encouraging analysis, evaluation, and synthesis of complex problems, and promoting student presentation and publication in appropriate outlets,” Stone said.

The exhibits and presentations range from Senior Capstone Projects from students in the School of Business to posters chronicling scientific research projects to an open house of graphic design work created by Digital Design students. The projects and presentations will be displayed in buildings across campus from Sequoya Hall to The James E. Brown Center; a complete schedule can be accessed at http://www.daltonstate.edu/news/pdf/Student-Scholarship-Showcase.pdf
