Writing Workshops are here!

Starting this fall, the Dalton State College Writing Lab and the Derrell C. Roberts Library are partnering to offer 30-60 minute workshops for students.

There will be three workshops offered in September, and the workshops will be held in the Robert's Library Wireless Classroom (Room 113).

Students will have hands-on practice and handouts will be provided. Contact Leslie Collins (lcollins@daltonstate.edu) or Melissa Whitesell (mwhitesell@daltonstate.edu) to reserve your space.

Classes are as follows:

  1. Writing Basics - Wednesday, Sept. 16th -  1:45-2:30 pm
Learn how to select a topic, develop a thesis statement,
    and create an outline.

  2. Ready, Set, Research - Wednesday, Sept. 23rd -  1:45-2:30 pm
Learn how to evaluate sources for your topic, locate scholarly
(peer-reviewed) sources, and collect citation information.

  3. Citing Your Sources - Wednesday, Sept. 30th -  1:45-2:30 pm
Learn what should be cited in your paper to avoid plagiarism
and how to decode citation information. Use your own
