Georgia Governor Nathan Deal has signed into law the state’s 2013
budget which includes $15 million for Dalton State’s long-awaited
60,000 square foot academic building which will house general
classrooms and lab space.
According to Vice President for Fiscal Affairs Scott Bailey,
bonds could be sold this fall and ground could be broken as soon as
January 2013 on the building which will be located near Sequoya Hall on
the southwestern end of the campus. Construction is expected to take
about 13 months, he said.
Dr. John Schwenn stated, “The addition of this science building will help us maintain the
much-needed pipeline of chemistry graduates to supply our local
industry. Our modern science and research
laboratories will help us attract more science students and will
benefit the entire Northwest Georgia region.”
