Civil War Hospitals and Medicine

The Bandy Heritage Center for Northwest Georgia and the Derrell C. Roberts Library at Dalton State College are pleased to host  "Civil War Hospitals and Medicine," a traveling exhibition on loan from the 6th Cavalry Museum of Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia. This exhibition  tells the story of Civil War field surgery using the Battle of Chickamauga as an example. Through the words of the men wounded on the field  of battle and the dedicated doctors and nurses charged with their care, this exhibit brings to life an inspiring and often overlooked chapter in the story of our nation's deadliest conflict.

The exhibition is located on the main floor of the Roberts library where it will remain through the summer.
