Calling All Campus Artists

The Derrell C. Roberts Library is offering an opportunity for DSC campus artists to display their artwork through the Art in the Library project.  Students, staff and faculty members are encouraged to submit art for inclusion in this ongoing exhibit.   

Accepted Mediums:
Paintings: oil, acrylics, watercolors
Drawings: pastels, colored pencil, pencil, charcoal, ink, markers
Computer-generated art
Photography: black and white, sepia, color
Collage
Mixed media

Library workshop cancelled

Due to technical problems with the GIL Express service, the ILL/GIL Express workshop scheduled for Thursday, May 31 at 12:15-12:45 pm has been cancelled.   We apologize for any inconvenience and will reschedule the workshop for later this summer.

Get Caught Reading @ Roberts Library


Director of Human Resources Faith Miller GOT CAUGHT READING @ THE ROBERTS LIBRARY.  Faith's favorite author is Anne Tyler.  She "owns everything Tyler has written", including her new book which is downloaded on Faith's Kindle.  Faith also recommends titles by Geraldine Brooks and Alice Hoffman's "The Dove Keepers".

Library Director Lydia Knight and the DSC mascot Rage GOT CAUGHT READING @ THE ROBERTS LIBRARY.  Lydia's reading Safely Home by Randy Alcorn for her book club on her iPad.  She is also reading Unbroken: a World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption by Laura Hillenbrand.  On her Kindle, she is reading The Limpopo Academy of Private Detection: No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency by Alexander McCall Smith.

Summer Science Camps at DSC

Biology Professor Dr. John Lugthart will introduce curious students to the wonders of stream ecosystems during the Creek Critters and Stream Stomp summer science camps.
Dalton State World of Science Camp - children ages 7-10

Monday through Friday, June 11 through June 22, 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Session A (June 11-15) includes classes on the ocean, plants and soil, rocks and minerals, human anatomy, and mathematical puzzles. Cost for Session A is $110.

Session B (June 18-22) includes classes on chemistry, birds, fossils, motion and machines, and science mysteries. Cost for Session B is $110.

Creek Critters - children ages 5-6

Monday, July 9, and Wednesday, July 11, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Introduces children to biology and life in streams on the Dalton State campus.

Stream Stomp - children ages 7-10

Tuesday, July 10, and Thursday, July 12, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Introduces children to biology and life in streams on the Dalton State campus, and takes them inside a biology lab.
